Last night San Diego Comic Con was alive with the sound of Marvel as the blockbuster studio rolled out a number of upcoming animated projects. With What If…? looking towards its second season, the studio has been widening plans and building a number of exciting new animated projects.
Chief among them is X-Men ’97, a return to the world of on of the 90’s best animated series and certainly its best theme tunes. During the panel it was revealed that the series is currently in production and working towards a premiere on Disney+ in late 2023.
When the series does make its return, the team will be falling in line behind a new leader… Magneto. In a clip shown to attendees the new leader of the X-Men was introduced in a new, helmet-less costume akin to what he wore in the first run of New Mutants comics. Another clip also saw the classic team going up against the legendary Sentinels.
As yet the footage from the panel hasn’t surfaced online, making it a convention exclusive. But as soon as any official shots do make their way to us we’ll post them for you right away.
