It’s been confirmed that US TV network The CW will not be renewing its current streaming deal with Netflix.
The CW and Netflix first entered their deal back in 2011 and it was subsequently renewed in 2016. The deal has offered Netflix viewers exclusive streaming rights to all CW properties, including the full Arrowverse slate, Riverdale and others.
The deal was credited with helping to save the struggling network.
Deadline has confirmed the The CW has now decided to shop the streaming rights for its upcoming series, including Batwoman, to other platforms. It is expected that Batwoman will be added to Warner Bros.’ own WarnerMedia streaming service, whilst other new shows will go to the highest bidder.
