A new report released overnight appears to confirm some news many of us expected about Star Trek: Discovery.
With only five episodes left in the series second season it appears Anson Mount (Captain Pike) and Rebecca Romjin (Number One) will be leaving the series ahead of its third season.
Romjin has so far only appeared in one episode despite being hyped as a major guest star for the show. Mount has appeared in every episode of the second season having jumped from the Enterprise to captain the USS Discovery.
Deadline broke the news whilst also referencing some on-set Mount reportedly had with one of the shows directors.
Star Trek fans will find the decision to move the characters on entirely logical as Pike’s destiny has never been to captain the previously unheard of ship.
No news at this stage on whether Ethan Peck will remain on the show as Spock.
Star Trek: Discovery is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman’s Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller’s Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Bryan Fuller, Heather Kadin, Gretchen J. Berg & Aaron Harberts, Akiva Goldsman, Rod Roddenberry and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers.
The series airs on CBS All Access in North America and Netflix internationally.
