Patrick Stewart recently sat down with Yahoo! for a career spanning interview. Talk turned to his upcoming return to the Star Trek franchise with his solo series, Picard.
Discussing the format of the series Stewart told interviewers it will shy away from the standalone, story-of-the-week, format of The Next Generation. Instead the show is being produced as a “10-hour movie”.
“We’re hoping for more than one season, and with this first [season], and this is one of the things that’s so interesting about the writers’ room, they are writing a 10-hour movie. In The Next Generation, it was a story, a different story, a different story, all with the same characters as many series are,” explained Stewart in an interview with Yahoo. “This time it is one story, from beginning to end. I hope that will lead people to…binge-watching, that it might lead to something like that because the idea of it being an unfolding narrative is really terrific.”
