Todd Phillips JOKER movie to start production in September

Though the film has yet to be formally announced it appears Todd Phillips Joker begins production in September.

Omega Underground reports that the film, set to say Joaquin Phoenix, will shoot largely in New York. The city will act as Gotham during the origin story.

Little more is known about the film at this stage. We understand it will form part of a new off-shoot of DC Films known as “DC Dark” or “DC Black”. This new table will seek to create one-shot, lower budget films based on characters from the DC Universe.

Joker is expected to shoot on a modest $55m budget, aiming itself squarely at the R-rated market.
