Thanos’ birth name revealed

Thanos (Marvel Comics)

Thanos, the Mad Titan, is about to make a huge splash on the big screen in Avengers: Infinity War. But in the meantime he’s dealing with some issues of his own in the pages of Marvel Comics. CBR has broken a story straight from the pages of Thanos #14 by Donny Cates, Geoff Shaw, Antonio Fabela and Clayton Cowles. The issue is on sale now.

For those not in the know Thanos started his solo series at war with his extended family. Where we find him in #14 he’s back at full strength and once again ready to take on the universe. What he’s not prepared for is coming face-to-face with a version of himself from one million years in the future.

When the petulant younger Thanos questions his elder self a little too much the older Titan reveals a shocking secret. Thanos is not the characters given name at birth. In the panel seen below the elder Thanos reveals their mother, Sui-San, had given them a different name on the day of their birth. Dione.

What does this mean for the Mad Titan? You’ll need to pick up the next issue of the on-going series to find out.
