With production now underway on ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ its cast is continuing to grow. Official website StarTrek.com last night announced a trio of new characters for the show.
Terry Serpico (‘Elementary’) joins the cast as Admiral Anderson, described as a high-ranking Starfleet official.
Maulik Pancholy (‘Weeds’) joins the crew of the USS Shenzhou as Dr. Nambue and will act as the Chief Medical Officer.
Finally Sam Vartholomeos (‘The Following’) will play Ensign Connor. His character is described as aJunior Officer in Starfleet Academy who is assigned to the Shenzhou.
The above three join Sonequa Martin-Green as the series lead alongside Michelle Yeoh as Captain Georgiou, the Starfleet Captain of the Shenzhou; Doug Jones as Lt. Saru, the ships Science Officer who will originate a new alien race to the ‘Star Trek’ franchise and Anthony Rapp as Lt. Stamets, another Starfleet Science Officer aboard Discovery and the first openly gay character in a ‘Star Trek’ TV series. Klingon characters Chris Obi as T’Kuvma, Shazad Latif as Kol and newcomer Mary Chieffo as L’Rell also appear.
‘Star Trek: Discovery’ will premiere its pilot episode on CBS before moving to online platform CBS All Access. After previous delays the premiere date is currently unknown.
