Is the original Jean Grey returning to Marvel Comics?

After years of non-committal statements and flat out denials Marvel Comics may soon be bringing back the original Jean Grey. During Grant Morrison’s time running New X-Men the character was killed by Xorn and has remained dead ever since.

Come December 2017 that is all about to change with the release of Phoenix Resurrection Return Jean Grey #1. The series will be penned by Matthew Rosenberg with artwork by Leinil Francis Yu. The short solicitation synopsis reads:

She will return, like a Phoenix from the ashes. Years ago, Jean Grey died and the X-Men mourned her. Since then, the world has changed, her teammates have lived without her and died without her. And now, when strange events start happening all over the world, those teammates can only come to one conclusion – the one true Jean Grey is back!

As with all things Marvel there could be a huge twist on this resurrection. We will have to wait until December to find out! How do you feel about the fan favourite character returning from the grave? Will she fit in to an X-Men universe where Wolverine and Cyclops are both long dead?
