Following last weeks poster release and trailer tease Universal has unleashed their first full look at ‘The Mummy’. Due for release in Summer 2017 the film will be the first in a new ‘shared universe’ to feature all of Universals classic monster characters.
‘The Mummy’ stars Tom Cruise and Sofia Boutella. The most recent synopsis gives little away of the films storyline:
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
The cast of ‘The Mummy’ also includes Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance and Oscar winner Russell Crowe as the famous Dr Jekyll. The film is directed by Alex Kurtzman who also acted as producer alongside Chris Morgan and Sean Daniel. Jon Spaihts and Christopher McQuarrie wrote the screenplay.
