‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ has had a great opening weekend at the box office. With an estimated $55.6M haul the film easily topped the charts taking out ‘John Wick 2’ and ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ in the process. Despite besting its foes the film fell slightly below Warner Bros. $60M estimate.

Audiences on the opening day gave the film a strong A- Cinescore which sits well with the score of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes. All signs point to the film having some strong legs in the coming weeks. Earlier this week we gave the film a strong 7/10 in our own review after catching a preview screening.

Zach Galifianakis (the ‘Hangover’ films, ‘Muppets Most Wanted’) stars as The Joker; Michael Cera (TV’s ‘Arrested Development’) as the orphan Dick Grayson; Rosario Dawson (TV’s ‘Daredevil’) as Barbara Gordon; and Ralph Fiennes (the ‘Harry Potter’ films) as Alfred.
