We first brought you news of Mega City One back in May 2017. The series, still currently in development, would act as a continuation of sorts from the Dredd movie which starred Karl Urban.
That film failed to set the box office alight but has become a true cult classic on home video. Many have hoped that Urban would return to the role for the series. Whilst the actor has dropped hints in the past he’s played pretty coy when asked about a potential return.
Now in an interview with TrekMovie the star has confirmed talks with the producers and given us a clue as to how Judge Dredd fits in to the world of Mega City One.
“I’m not attached to it, although I did have a preliminary round of conversations with them,” said Urban. “I am interested in doing it. There are a lot of great stories to tell there… their idea for Mega-City One is basically to build the show around more rookie judges and young, new judges and Dredd would come in and out and I said that I’ll do it, but it has to be done in a meaningful way.”
We understand the series is currently being shopped to potential networks/streaming services.
