Earlier in the week Lucasfilm announced the cast list for Star Wars: Episode IX. In doing so they announce that production was now underway on the ninth instalment in the franchise.
Now director J.J. Abrams has joined the world of twitter to also announce that the cameras have begun to role. In an emotional post the director paid tribute to the late Carrie Fisher calling the production a “bittersweet” one.
Bittersweet starting this next chapter without Carrie, but thanks to an extraordinary cast and crew, we are ready to go. Grateful for @rianjohnson and special thanks to George Lucas for creating this incredible world and beginning a story of which we are lucky to be a part. #IX pic.twitter.com/FOfnGwVut5
