'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' cast - Marvel

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is off to a flying start at the international box office. Having opened in 37 markets already the film has taken an estimated $101.2M in its first weekend. According to Deadline that opening is 57% ahead of the first Guardians, 50% bigger than Captain America: The Winter Soldier and 19% above Thor: The Dark World.

Disney along with Marvel Studios has in recent year maximised this late April/early May opening to launch several previous movies in the MCU line. Often to great success. In several key territories Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has opened higher than Captain America: Civil War.

The film has taken the top spot in 34 of the territories in which it has opened and in each of those territories it has also bested its predecessor.

The film opens in the US this week so prepare yourselves for a gargantuan opening weekend at the domestic box office. Have you seen the film yet? What did you think? We’ll be bringing you our review very soon!
