First ‘Wonder Woman’ clip echoes another classic DC Comics film

Chris Pine recently guested on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show and he brought with him the first clip from Wonder Woman! Fans will no doubt recognise the scene as it has been teased is nearly every trailer. Now we get to see the full sequence complete with our first snippet of score from the film.

Director Patty Jenkins has spoken the past about how Richard Donner’s original Superman film provided inspiration for her Wonder Woman: “Superman was all about you,” said Jenkins. “It was about you watching and realising what it would feel like to have great powers and do great things. It was full of love and emotion.”

Superman fans will see that the scene echoes the moment that Clark Kent saves Lois Lane from a mugger in the classic 1978 movie.

It’s clear from watching the clip that the tone of Wonder Woman will be drastically different to other DCEU films. Even in this short clip there’s humour and a more hopeful tone which will hopefully help make this film a success.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers and her true destiny.
