Variety is reporting that former WWE superstar turned actor John Cena (Bumblebee) is in talks to join James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.
It’s reported by entertainment reporter Justin Kroll that Cena is under consideration to play Peacemaker. Initial reports understood that Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) was in talks to take on the role until scheduling conflicts forced him to drop out.
Peacemaker was originally created by Joe Gill and Pat Boyette and debuted in 1966’s Fighting’ 5 #40, the Charlton Comics superhero’s alias is Christopher Smith, a diplomat so committed to global peace that he takes on the superhero alter ego to ensure it by force using non-lethal weapons and combat techniques. DC acquired the character in the 1980s where he began to sporadically appear across the DCU.
The Suicide Squad (aka Suicide Squad 2)is aiming for an August 6, 2020 release date.
