It has been a wild 24 hours for the DC Extended Universe. Between the rumours of a solo Joker movie, to more news of Ben Affleck’s supposed lack of involvement there’s been a lot to contend with.
Yesterday comments flew around the internet from director Matt Reeves claiming that his Batman film will not be part of the DC Extended Universe. Batman-News.com can catch you up on the original story. Well now Reeves himself has taken to twitter to clear up his own comments.
In a series of posts this evening the writer/director clarifies what any of us with a level head had expected all along: The Batman will be part of the universe it’s just not a Justice League story.
Jeez, what'd I miss, guys…? 😀
Just to be clear: Of COURSE Batman will be part of the D.C. Universe. Batman will be BATMAN…

In my comments from a while back about not being part of the DCEU, I was talking about The Batman being a story specifically about Batman…

…not about the others in the Universe. That it wouldn't be filled with cameos servicing other stories — that it would be a BATMAN story.

So there you have it. Whilst Reeves doesn’t touch on Affleck’s involvement or lack thereof at least we know where the films stands in terms of setting!
