In news that comes as a bit of a surprise, James Gunn has announced today that discussions have taken place on a proposed sequel to this year’s Brightburn.
Released back in May, Brightburn kind of struggled at the box office, making only $30M worldwide.
The important bit here though is that the movie was shot on only a $6M budget, and that is some cheap change for any kind of cinematic superhero these days.
Replying to a follower on instagram over the weekend, Gunn had this to say;
“I think I’m tied up for the next few years with Suicide Squad and then Guardians, but we’re talking about the sequel.”
With the end-credits opening up the world and revealing there were more powered individuals out there, are Gunn and Co. trying to turn Brightburn into a spin-off franchise like The Conjuring Universe?
