SYNOPSIS After hearing a young boy’s cry for help, a brother and sister venture into a vast field of grass in Kansas but soon discover that there may be no way out. REVIEW With the cinematic Stephen King resurgence in full swing thanks to IT, and Netflix having somewhat of a King resurgence itself with the likes of Gerald’s Game and 1922, it seems like we are fast approaching a time where no King story will go untapped for a cinematic or streaming adaptation. While WarnerBros IT was a great time at the cinema, Netflix’s films have been a little…

SYNOPSIS A dark fairy tale about a gang of five children trying to survive the horrific violence of the cartels and the ghosts created every day by the drug war. REVIEW Issa Lopez’s Tigers Are Not Afraid takes place in a seamless world of juxtapositions, as it is both a horrific war zone and a playground for the characters that inhabit it. Beginning with some stark statistics on the dead and missing due to the current drug war, it molds reality with the surreal, and the grim nature of the current climate with the fantastical elements of Del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth. I…

Now here’s some news that makes me happy, as it seems like the folks at Constantin Film have plans for a new entry in the Wrong Turn franchise. Local reporter Sheila Vilvens tweeted the following confirming production of the movie today; “Just learned film crews are in the Village of New Richmond through September 13 to film scenes for a Wrong Turn movie series.” The new movie will apparently follow a cast of characters as they go camping on the Appalachian trail and encounter a group calling themselves “The Foundation”. We do not yet know whether these will be straight up…

SYNOPSIS Kidnapped and afraid, a woman finds herself fighting to stay alive as an unwilling participant in a deadly game where women are hunted by masked men. REVIEW An inventively violent throwback to the heyday of 80’s slasher movies, Tony D’Aquino’s debut feature The Furies attempts to mix themes from Greek mythology with elements of technology and feminism, all whilst hoping to create an original spin on the classic babe-in-the-woods slasher outback survival story. Starting with some rapid character development that feels more than a little forced, the script (also written by D’Aquino) introduces us to our soon to be…

IT: Chapter Two arrives in cinemas worldwide from Friday 6 September, 2019 from Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema. SYNOPSIS 27 years after overcoming the malevolent supernatural entity Pennywise, the former members of the Losers’ Club, who have grown up and moved away from Derry, are brought back together by a devastating phone call. REVIEW It’s not too often that the horror genre gets a true blockbuster, but that’s exactly what we got in 2017 with Andy Muschietti’s version of IT. At a time when Stranger Things was only just beginning to revive 80’s nostalgia, and creepy clown sightings were happening all over…

Supermassive Game’s Man of Medan isn’t even out yet (releases tomorrow), but they are already dropping the trailer for the next instalment in the planned eight game franchise. The Dark Pictures: Little Hope will be the newest horror title released by the publisher and looks to take you back into the woods for some Blair Witch/Evil Dead style hauntings. From the trailer, it seems like the company is keeping with their theme of hiring actual actors for the in-game roles, as Will Poulter (or his doppelganger) of the recent Midsommar seems to be taking the lead. The companies first game Until…

If there’s one thing we know about french horror, it’s that it likes to push boundaries. Starting way back with Haute Tension in 2003, the new french extremity movement just keeps pumping, and with recent entries like the excellent Raw and Revenge, it’s shown that it’s in no danger of dying out in film anytime soon. But what about on the small screen? It’s not often that we get international (especially French series) available to us, but thanks to the international appeal of Netflix, we may get to see that happen next month when they release their new series Marianne.…

Welcome to Camp Redwood! After releasing many short promos throwing back to the days of 80’s slashers, American Horror Story: 1984 has released it’s first official trailer today, showing the characters in action, and more importantly, it’s killer, Mr Jingles. Featuring all the landmark traits from the slasher heyday, 1984 promises to be a real treat for 80’s horror fans, with the summer camp setting alone making me nostalgic for the peak years at Crystal Lake. American Horror Story: 1984 will bring back stars Emma Roberts, Cody Fern & Angela Bassett, but Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters have been confirmed…
