Warner Bros. is turning to Amazon’s Audible library in looking for its next big screen adventure hit. The Hollywood Reporter understands that the home of DC Comics superheroes is looking to adapt author Gus Krieger’s recently release audiobook Superworld.
Set in 2038, Superworld focusses on Ignatius Lohman, the only man on Earth without superpowers. Stuck in a dead end job, Lohman’s father is one of the more powerful people on the planet and the leader of Peerless, the world’s defence organisation. Ignatius finally gets his moment of glory when a corporate overlord emerges with the ability to neutralise superhuman powers.
The screenplay, which is said to be similar in tone to Pixar’s The Incredibles, is being penned by Mark Perez (Game Night).
Speaking of Game Night, the studio is eyeing actor-turned-direct Jason Batemen, who starred in Game Night, to direct the piece.
Whilst it will be a while before production gets off the ground this certainly sounds like a really interesting project!
