DC Comics is gearing up to break the internet with its epic FanDome event on August 22. The virtual convention is shaping up to be an absolute first of its kind. Offering fans the chance to wander a virtual convention hall, attend panels and grab exclusive merchandise.
DC has now released a new FAQ which sheds a little more light on how the immersive event will run.
Here’s a few key pieces of info which you need to know!
What is the best way to access DC FanDome?
DC FanDome is an immersive experience which is best experienced on a MAC or PC laptop or desktop computer via a recommended browser (Google Chrome 56 and above and Firefox 51 and above) at www.DCFanDome.com.
What time does DC FanDome begin and end?
DC FanDome will begin at 10am PT (UTC-7) on August 22 and end at 10am PT on August 23. You can see your local time zones here.
What if I miss it? Will the event be available at a later time to view?
Just like a live event, the full DC FanDome experience will be available for 24 hours only. If you don’t watch it during the 24 hours, you will miss it (unless you have access to time travel). For those in different time zones around the world, Hall of Heroes programming will run 3 times consecutively (it’s an 8-hour program); other programming will be available only once in the 24-hour timeline. Check the schedule (releasing the week of August 10) for details and ability to create your own custom schedule.
What is the cost?
FREE. Access to the event is entirely free.
So, there will be opportunities to purchase DC merchandise?
Yes, there will be exclusive DC merchandise available to buy in the DC Store on the FunVerse island from a range of different partners around the globe. Some items will only be available during the 24 hours of the event, while others will be available for purchase beyond the end of the event. It’s possible that some of the merchandise will have geo-fencing due to local licensing agreements.
Will the event only be in English? Or accessible in other languages?
We will support multiple languages in DC FanDome. All live events in the Hall of Heroes area will be translated with live subtitles into eight languages including French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. Outside of these live events, a number of pre-recorded panels and content pieces will be translated into 9 languages: English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish and Traditional Chinese.
