Universal Pictures hasn’t been shy in announcing that the cast and crew of Jurassic World: Dominion are getting back to work. The studio has confirmed almost $5M in investment in “Covid proofing” for the Pinewood Studios set where Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt get back to work this week.
In a new interview with Empire Magazine the film’s director, Colin Trevorrow, has discussed the impact of bringing the cast and crew back to the UK to continue work.
“For many of us, Dominion was already the biggest creative challenge of our lives, before the lockdown. The shooting schedule really worked to our advantage – the first four weeks we put to film were mostly sequences with dinosaurs in them. So that allowed us to get a head start on VFX and workshop some of the newer elements without the pressure of a looming deadline.”
Trevorrow also touched on the measures put in place by the studio in order to keep his production team safe from the virus.
“I’m confident our guidelines will keep us safe. The hard part will be constructing a creative environment within all the precautions. Once the cameras roll, we have to forget our world and live in the world of the movie. That may take some practice.”
Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World: Dominion stars Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Justice Smith, Daniella Pineda, Mamoudou Athie, DeWanda Wise, and Dichen Lachman. Original franchise stars Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum are also set to return.
