It’s no secret that a certain subset of Game of Thrones fans were unhappy with how the hit series came to an end. With Danaerys failing to sit on the throne before her demise, Jon Snow banished back to the wall and Bran on the throne, to some it felt like a disingenuous ending.
Well now actor Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran), has commented on just how the ending tied in with George R.R. Martin’s vision for the franchise.
“[Creators] David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss] told me there were two things [author] George R.R. Martin had planned for Bran, and that was the Hodor revelation, and that he would be king,” Wright reveals. “So that’s pretty special to be directly involved in something that is part of George’s vision. It was a really nice way to wrap it up.”
So it seems Bran will ultimately end up on the throne in the books when the final two instalments are published.
Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams. The series airs on HBO in North America and Sky Atlantic here in the UK.
