GAME OF THRONES premiere shatters viewing records in North America.

By now we’re sure you’ve watched the first episode of Game of Thrones final season. Judging by these viewing figures there aren’t many people left on the planet who haven’t seen it…

According to trade sources the episode scored a series record 17.4M viewers. That includes the 11.8M who watched at 21:00 premiere, as well as those who watched encore presentations and streamed the show via HBO apps.

The previous record for the series was set by the season seven finale, which drew in 16.9M viewers in 2017.

Game of Thrones stars Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Lena Headey, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams. The series airs on HBO in North America and Sky Atlantic here in the UK.
