Arrow show runner Beth Schwartz has recently been caught discussing how the show could potentially continue without leads Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards.
Amell recently announced the series will be coming to an end following a 10-episode eighth season. Following that new Rickards announced that she will be exiting the show when season 7 wraps in just a few weeks time.
The show recently produced an episode set almost entirely in 2040 to expand on its future storyline. Now it seems that may have been the writers way to explore a potential, future-set, spin-off for the show.
Speak with TV Line Schwartz was asked about the potential for a new spinoff.
“It was definitely meant to grow the world that we had already built and to see the next generation of what Oliver and Felicity and our present-day team have worked so hard for, and sort of see what happens in the future. We love those characters and would love to see them go on in some capacity after the show’s over. We were so happy, internally, about how it came out. We kind love our future story.”
Would you like to see more of this future timeline after the end of Oliver Queen’s story?
Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, David Ramsey as John Diggle and Emily Bett Rickards as Felicity Smoak, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Siren. Season 7 will see the return of Colton Haynes as Roy Harper/Arsenal.
Arrow airs on The CW Mondays at 8/7c. In the UK the show airs on Sky One on Thursdays at 9pm.
