The 2019 CinemaCon event is now underway at Ceasers Palace in Las Vegas. Warner Bros. was on hand which means that there was plenty of DC Films news to come from the opening day.
Video footage of Jason Momoa was show teasing that Aquaman 2 is coming. Of course there isn’t even a script for that movie yet so no actual footage to show off.
Some unfinished footage from Birds of Prey was also shown off, that footage heavily teased Harley’s role with the titular team. According to Batman-News.com she will be stirring the pot more than helping out.
Perhaps most exciting is the description of footage shown from Wonder Woman 1984. Firstly here’s a look at some new promo art of the movie shown off to fans at the event.
Director Patty Jenkins discussed that Diana is “now at her full powers” in the sequel – long past figuring them out or getting a grip on them. Footage shown during the presentation featured Diana and her Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) walking in front of the Washington Monument, further confirming that he is, at the very least, not a hallucination – we’ll have to wait until June 2020 to find out for sure how the character returns.
The unfinished footage also showed Diana sprinting through streets and fighting in a 1980s shopping mall. A first look at this movies villain, Cheetah, played by Kristen Wiig was shown.
No images from the screening have leaked as yet so we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what this incarnation of Cheetah looks like.
Gal Gadot returns in the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in Wonder Woman 1984. The film also stars Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. And Chris Pine returns as Steve Trevor. The film is directed by Patty Jenkins.
Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Patty Jenkins, Stephen Jones and Gal Gadot are producing the film. Rebecca Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns and Walter Hamada are the executive producers.
Wonder Woman 1984 is set to hit cinemas on June 5, 2020.
