Back in 1982 director Wes Craven released a movie by the name of Swamp Thing. That movie starred Louis Jordan and Adrienne Barbeau. On release it was met with mixed reviews but went on to become something of a cult classic in the home video scene.
Whilst Jordan would go on to star in 1989’s The Return of Swamp Thing, Barbeau moved on to other ventures. DC Comics fans may know her best as Selina Kyle/Catwoman in Batman the Animated Series.
Now the actress has confirmed that she will be returning to the Swamp Thing franchise in the new series for DC Universe. In a now deleted tweet the actress said:
No news at this stage on who she may be playing in the new series. Are you excited for her potential return to the swamp?
When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
Swamp Thing will premiere on the DC Universe streaming service sometime in 2019/20. The series is set to star Virginia Madsenas Maria Sunderland, Jeryl Prescott as Madame Xanadu, Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane and Maria Sten as Liz Tremayne.
