Yesterday news broke that Will Smith was stepping down from appearing in James Gunn’s Suicide Squad 2. At the time his departure was blamed on scheduling conflicts rendering him unable to appear in the movie.
Now the rumour has been updated to add that Warner Bros. is considering whether to recast the role to allow the character to appear in the sequel.
Variety reporter Justin Kroll has updated his own story adding that the studio is currently weighing up their options before the movie goes forward with production.
Another option is that the character is replaced in the script. No word at this stage as to who could take his place.
One item I forgot to add to story, sources say execs are now deciding whether they will recast the role or replace Deadshot with a different character from the DC universe to join the team in sequel
