BIRDS OF PREY set to feature no ‘flashy costumes’

Harley Quinn

Today’s latest DC Films rumour comes to us directly from the team at Revenge of the Fans. The site has recently dropped a huge update on various projects with the DC Films slate including this interesting tidbit on Birds of Prey.

The site reports that with a modest budget of around $60-65M director Cathy Yan is looking to ground the film heavily in reality. In doing so Yan is shying away from using what the site calls “flashy” costumes.

It is rumoured that the cast will instead go for a more understated, “cool” look rather than anything outlandish. Whilst we don’t think this means the characters will be wearing huge rubber super suits don’t think that means they won’t resemble their comic counterparts.

We fully expect Harley and co. to have comic inspired costumes. They will most likely just be based on very real world designs.

With the film due to start production in the next couple fo weeks it may not be long until we get our first glimpse of what the world of Birds of Prey might look like.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) stars Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary and Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya. The movie will be directed by Cathy Yan and arrives in cinemas on February 7, 2020.
