It’s been a great weekend for comic book movies at the box office. With Aquaman riding high internationally it’s Spider-Man who wears the crown in North America.
Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse has opened to $35.4M sitting dead centre of the $30-40M predictions. The front loaded weekend saw the Sony Pictures release take $12.7M on Friday, $13.1M on Saturday and closed out the weekend with a $9.5M Sunday.
The movie faces stiff competition in the coming weeks from Aquaman, Bumblebee and Mary Poppins Returns but we hope it has some holiday legs. You can checkout our review of the movie here!
Internationally Spider-Verse has already released in over 40 markets. Over the course of the weekend it grossed a further $21M for a global tally of $56.4M.
