Earlier this week we brought you the news that Superman: The Movie is coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray. Now we have news that the movie will also be returning to cinemas to celebrate its 40th birthday!

Warner Bros. has announced that both Superman and Batman: Mask of the Phantasm will be returning to the big screen in North America later this year. Phantasm has, believe it or not, reached its milestone 25th birthday.

Superman will be re-released in its original theatrical version arriving as seen on the big screen in 1978. The film will return to select cinemas across North America for showings on Sunday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 27.

It has been reported that Max Fleischer’s animated Superman short “Mechanical Monsters” will accompany the film.

Celebrating its 25th birthday Batman: Mask of the Phantasm will screen for one night only on Monday, November 12. Tickets to both events can be purchased from Fathom Events.
