Spider-Man: Homecoming hit cinemas in the UK today but fans in North America have a couple more days to wait. Whilst excitement for Sony/Marvel release builds Deadline and looking ahead to the films potential weekend gross.
Coming off the positive buzz from Tom Hollands debut in Captain America: Civil War expectations are high. The film has officially be rated fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and is holding a score of 92%. Doing their usual magical calculations looking at other Spidey films and the rest of the MCU they’ve landed on a figure of $100-$120m for it’s opening weekend in North America.
Sony Pictures themselves are giving a more conservative estimate of $80-$90m. We’ll know late Saturday/early Sunday whether those figures have come in as expected. As always we will keep you updated!
